Clover Point

Clover Point is an outer-exposed bay on Victoria's southern shoreline, fronting Juan de Fuca Strait with mixed bottom structure and working depths from roughly 15 to 65 feet. The point draws Chinook Salmon from June through August and Coho Salmon from June into September, with both species following bait along the tide lines that form off the headland. Lingcod hold on the broken bottom year-round, peaking from November through March and again from April into June, while Kelp Greenling share the same rocky ground. Currents sweep hard past the point on large exchanges, and fish concentrate along the edges where the flow eases against structure. The shallow shelf gives way quickly to deeper mixed ground, putting salmon passages and bottom habitat within the same short stretch of water.
