Hudson Bay Passage is a deep tidal channel near Prince Rupert, British Columbia, with working depths from 60 to 300 feet over mixed rock and current-swept bottom. Lingcod hold on the structure through a long window from February to July, while Pacific Halibut move onto the flats and edges from April into August. Chinook Salmon push through in two pulses, February to April and again April to July, followed by Coho Salmon from May into September. Anglers work the deeper rock with leadhead jigs and metal jigs for lingcod, and drift jig soft plastics or set salmon heads and octopus on anchor for halibut along the same contours. Salmon fishing centres on downrigger trolling with whole herring, anchovy in teaser heads, and spoons behind flashers, with cut-plug herring mooching effective on Chinook when tides ease through the passage.

Hudson Bay Passage is one of the spots we track around Prince Rupert. See every scored spot in British Columbia.
