North Arm Jetty

North Arm Jetty is an inner-protected corridor at the mouth of the Fraser's North Arm in Vancouver, working a mixed bottom that runs from about 10 to 50 feet. The structure funnels migrating salmon along the jetty wall, concentrating Chinook from June through August and Coho from June into September within DFO subarea 29-12. Downrigger trolling is the dominant approach for both species, pulling anchovy in teaser heads, hootchies, small trolling spoons, and flashers along the drop. Mooching cut plug or whole herring works when Chinook hold deeper against the tide, while bucktailing flies and casting small spoons or metal jigs pick off Coho feeding near the surface. Tide changes push bait through the corridor, and fish tend to move with those swings rather than sitting static on the structure.
