Pam Rocks

Pam Rocks is an exposed rocky pinnacle in Howe Sound off Vancouver, rising sharply through the 40 to 120 foot range in DFO subarea 28-2. The structure holds Chinook Salmon through their June to August peak and Coho Salmon from June into September, while Rockfish work the broken bottom year-round. Downrigger trolling with anchovy in teaser heads, hootchies, and flashers covers the salmon along the tide lines that wrap the pinnacle, and bucktailing takes surface-oriented Coho when they push shallow. Jigging metal jigs and leadhead jigs with soft plastics down the rock faces produces steady Rockfish action, and the same technique reaches Chinook staged deeper on the structure. Tide movement across the pinnacle concentrates bait and dictates where fish set up on any given drift.
