Pedder Bay is an inner-protected bay on the south end of Vancouver Island near Victoria, cutting into the coastline with a mixed bottom and working depths from about 25 to 115 feet. Chinook Salmon move through from June through August, followed by Coho Salmon peaking June through September, while Lingcod hold on the structured bottom with peak windows from November through March and again April through June. Dungeness Crab populate the softer patches across the bay's sheltered flats. The protected geography keeps conditions workable when the outer strait builds, and the depth transitions along the bay's edges concentrate fish near the mixed bottom and nearby reef structure. Tidal exchange at the mouth pulls bait into the bay, setting up predictable feeding windows on the shallower shoulders.
