Plumper Cove

Plumper Cove sits on the west side of Keats Island in DFO subarea 28-1, an inner-protected bay with mixed bottom and working depths between 10 and 60 feet. The cove holds Chinook Salmon through their June to August peak and Coho Salmon from June into September, with fish moving along the shoreline drop and across the bay's mixed structure. Downrigger trolling covers water efficiently here, with anchovy in teaser heads, hootchies, or trolling spoons run behind flashers to match the depth of holding fish. Mooching cut plug or whole herring works the same contours at a slower pace, while jigging metal jigs or soft plastic swimbaits picks apart the deeper end of the range. For Coho pushing shallower and more aggressive, bucktailing flies near the surface and casting small spoons or metal jigs to feeding fish both apply.
