Roger Curtis

Roger Curtis sits on the southwest corner of Bowen Island in DFO subarea 28-1, an inner-protected bay of mixed bottom fronting the outflow of Howe Sound. Chinook Salmon are the primary summer draw with a peak from June through August, followed closely by Coho Salmon peaking June through September. Downrigger trolling dominates the fishery here, working the 20 to 120 foot range along the drop-offs with anchovy in teaser heads, hootchies, or trolling spoons behind flashers. When fish stack tight to structure, mooching cut plug herring or jigging metal jigs over the mixed bottom picks up Chinook holding deeper, while bucktailing and casting small spoons take Coho feeding near the surface.
