South Arm Jetty

South Arm Jetty extends into the outer, exposed flats of the Fraser River's south arm off Vancouver, sitting over a sand bottom in DFO subarea 29-9. The spot fishes best for Chinook Salmon from June through August and Coho Salmon from June through September, when both species stage and transit along the jetty's edges. Working depths run from 25 to 80 feet, and the open exposure means tide and wind push bait along the structure, concentrating fish on the drop. Downrigger trolling dominates here, with anchovy in a teaser head, hootchies, and trolling spoons run behind flashers to cover the water column. Mooching cut plug herring on slack tides and casting metal jigs or small spoons for Coho round out the tactical picture.
