Ten Mile Point

Ten Mile Point is a kelp-lined rocky reef on Victoria's outer exposed shoreline, set within DFO subarea 19-5 where strong tidal flow sweeps over structure ranging from roughly 25 to 105 feet. The point holds Chinook Salmon through their June to August peak and Coho Salmon from June into September, with both species following bait along the reef edges and current seams. Lingcod occupy the rock and broken bottom year-round, with peak activity from November through March and again from April into June. Tidal exchanges around the point accelerate over the shallower reef shoulders, concentrating fish where kelp meets the drop into deeper water. The mix of exposure, hard bottom, and reliable current makes it a consistent producer across the salmon season and through the cooler lingcod months.
