Victoria Waterfront

Victoria Waterfront is an inner-protected bay fishery along the southern edge of Vancouver Island, sitting within DFO subarea 19-3 over mixed bottom in 15 to 65 feet of water. The shoreline structure and sheltered exposure hold Chinook Salmon from June through August and Coho Salmon from June through September, with Chum Salmon moving through from August into November. Lingcod occupy the rockier pockets of the mixed bottom, peaking from November to March and again from April to June, while Dungeness Crab work the softer patches year-round. Tidal exchange through the protected water concentrates bait against points and shallow ledges, keeping predators tight to structure in the upper half of the depth range. The compact footprint and layered habitat let anglers target salmon in the water column and bottomfish over rock within the same stretch of waterfront.
