White Islets

White Islets is an exposed kelp-fringed rock reef in DFO subarea 16-2, sitting off the Sunshine Coast shoreline west of Vancouver in 15 to 80 feet of water. The structure holds resident Lingcod, which peak from November through April, while Coho Salmon move through the surrounding tide lines from June through September. Anglers targeting Lingcod work jigging with leadhead jigs and swimbaits or metal jigs tight to the rock and kelp edges, with live greenling drifts and whole herring on the mooching gear covering the deeper margins. For Coho, downrigger trolling with anchovy in a teaser head, small trolling spoons, or hootchies behind flashers accounts for most fish, and bucktailing over the shallow reef edges produces when schools push bait to the surface. Tide movement around the islets concentrates bait against the reef, and the outer-exposed setting keeps current and structure interacting through most of the working depth range.
