Worlcombe Island is a small rocky islet in Howe Sound northwest of Vancouver, ringed by mixed rock structure that drops from shallow ledges into water fishing 10 to 80 feet deep. The exposed shoulders and current lines around the island hold Chinook Salmon, with the peak window running June through August. Downrigger trolling is the dominant approach here, working anchovy in teaser heads, hootchies, and trolling spoons behind flashers along the depth contours where bait stacks against the rock. Mooching cut plug or whole herring on the tide changes covers the same water at a slower pace, and jigging metal jigs or soft plastic swimbaits over the deeper rock produces when fish sit tight to structure. Tidal flow wrapping the island concentrates bait against the drop-offs, making depth control the key variable through the day.
