Prevost Island's Nose Point is a rocky drop-off in the Cowichan waters of British Columbia, where the bottom falls through a mid-exposure range of 40 to 180 feet. Chinook Salmon hold along this structure from June through September, while Coho Salmon push through from June into October. Downrigger trolling accounts for most Chinook here, with anchovy in a teaser head, hootchies, trolling spoons, and flashers worked along the contour, and cut-plug herring mooched for anglers fishing the deeper edge. Coho respond to trolled hootchies, spoons, and anchovies through the upper water column, and bucktailing takes fish near the surface. The rock face and steep depth change concentrate bait and hold fish tight to the break.
