Iona Jetty extends from the south arm of the Fraser River into the inner-protected waters off Vancouver, a sand-bottomed corridor within DFO subarea 29-10 where outflowing river current meets tidal exchange. The structure funnels bait along its length and holds Chinook Salmon through the June–August peak and Coho Salmon from June into September. Working depths of 10 to 50 feet along the drop covers most of the productive water, with tide changes concentrating fish near the tip. Downrigger trolling with anchovy in teaser heads, hootchies, trolling spoons, and flashers is the dominant approach for both species, while mooching cut plug or whole herring pulls Chinook holding deeper on the slack. Coho responding higher in the column come to bucktail flies or metal jigs and small casting spoons worked on the retrieve.
