Lopez Pass is a mixed-bottom corridor in DFO subarea 7 near Bellingham, Washington, with mid-level exposure and depths running from 20 to 120 feet. The passage draws Chinook Salmon at their peak from June through September and Coho Salmon from June into October, with Chum and Pink Salmon moving through as well. Anglers work the corridor for salmon with downrigger trolling using whole herring, trolling spoons, hoochies, and flashers, while mooching cut-plug herring covers the deeper edges. Lingcod hold on the mixed structure and peak from November through February and again from March through June, taken on leadhead jigs with swimbaits or metal jigs along the bottom. Rockfish move over the same structure from March through September, and Pacific Halibut come in from April through August on drifted herring, squid, or salmon bellies through the deeper water.
