Long Point is a mixed-bottom drop-off in Marine Area 8-1, sitting off Oak Harbor, Washington, where depths fall from around 260 to 660 feet along mid-exposure structure. Pacific halibut hold here through their March to June peak, worked with drift jigging using leadhead jigs, metal jigs, or soft plastic swimbaits, and backed by bait fishing with herring, salmon bellies, octopus, or squid. Lingcod concentrate on the rocky edges in February and March, taking metal jigs, leadhead jigs with swimbaits, and bucktail jigs, with live greenling or sanddabs as an alternative over the same structure. Chinook and coho salmon move through from June into September and respond to trolling with flashers, spoons, hoochies, or cut plug herring, with mooching whole or cut plug herring an effective supporting approach. The deep drop-off also holds canary, copper, quillback, and yellowmouth rockfish alongside Pacific cod and spiny dogfish across the same depth band.
