Pill Point marks a rocky drop-off along the outer-exposed Loudoun Channel near Bamfield, British Columbia, where the bottom falls away through depths of 40 to 180 feet. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August, while Coho Salmon hold from May to September and Rockfish stack up over the structure across the same window. Trolling anchovy, herring, flashers, or hootchies works the salmon along the edge of the drop, and mooching whole or cut-plug herring covers the mid-depths when fish sit deeper. For Rockfish, jigging metal jigs, leadhead jigs, or soft plastic swimbaits over the rock reaches the fish holding tight to the structure. The exposed setting and hard bottom keep both salmon and bottomfish concentrated along the contour where shallow water breaks into deeper channel.
