The Hump 0.7 km NE of Guaquina Point is an outer-exposed rock pinnacle off Gold River, British Columbia, rising through waters that run from roughly 260 to 660 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from February through April and again in August and September, alongside Pacific Halibut through the March-to-August window and a mix of Canary, Yellowmouth, Copper, and Quillback Rockfish over the rocky bottom. Chinook Salmon move through from May to September and Coho from June to October, with Sablefish holding in the deeper water below. Anglers work the pinnacle for Lingcod by jigging metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs tight to the rock, while Pacific Halibut come to drift jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics or metal jigs along the slopes. Salmon here respond to trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies, with jigging and mooching cut-plug herring as supporting tactics near the structure.
