Hump 1.7 km W of Muchalat Inlet is a rock pinnacle in outer, exposed water off Gold River, British Columbia, rising through depths of 80 to 440 feet. The structure holds Pacific Halibut, which peak from March through August, alongside Lingcod that turn on from February to April and again in August and September. Chinook Salmon run strong from May through September and Coho Salmon from June into October, with the pinnacle also supporting Canary Rockfish, Pacific Cod, Sablefish, and Darkblotched Rockfish. Anglers work the rocky bottom for halibut with drift jigging using leadhead jigs and soft plastics, metal jigs, or herring, while lingcod respond to jigging with metal jigs and swimbaits over the same high-relief terrain. Salmon come to trolled spoons, hootchies, and cut-plug herring worked across the upslope water above the hump.
