Charles Rocks is a rock pinnacle in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, rising through mid-exposure water with fishable structure from about 40 to 120 feet. The pinnacle holds Chinook Salmon through their May to August peak and Coho Salmon from June into October, with both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies over the structure. Lingcod concentrate on the rock from February through April and respond to metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs worked close to the bottom. Black Rockfish stack up along the pinnacle across a long February to October window and take metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits, while Pacific Halibut move through from March to August and hold in the deeper 40 to 120 foot range for drift jigging with jigs and herring. The rock edges and depth changes give predatory fish ambush points, and the mid-exposure setting keeps current moving across the pinnacle.
