Horda Shoals

Horda Shoals is a rock pinnacle in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, rising through a water column that runs from the surface to about 150 feet across a mid-exposure setting. The structure holds Pacific Halibut, which peak from March through August, alongside Lingcod that come on strongest from February to April and a mix of Quillback, Copper, and Black Rockfish that work the rocky terrain year-round. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and Coho follow from June into October, giving the shoal a shifting cast of targets across the seasons. Anglers work the deeper rock with drift jigging using metal jigs, leadhead jigs with soft plastics, or herring for halibut, while lingcod and rockfish respond to jigging with metal jigs and swimbaits over the same structure. For salmon, trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies through the water above the pinnacle covers both Chinook and Coho as they pass over the shoals.
