Port Washington is a rock pinnacle in the inner, protected waters of British Columbia's Gulf Islands, rising through depths of roughly 40 to 120 feet. The structure holds a strong resident population of lingcod, which peak from February through April, alongside a year-round mix of rockfish including China, quillback, and copper. Anglers work the pinnacle with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs for lingcod, dropping to the rock and edges where these fish stage, while bait fishing with live greenling, whole herring, or squid covers the same ground. Copper rockfish respond to jigging with metal jigs and leadhead jigs rigged with soft plastics, or to bottom fishing with herring, squid, and cut bait tight to the structure. From May through August Chinook salmon move through and are taken by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons, with coho following from June into October on trolled spoons, hootchies, and cut-plug herring.
