About Scott Point

Scott Point is an outer-exposed rock drop-off in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, falling through depths of 260 to 660 feet within DFO subarea 18-3. Chinook Salmon hold here from May through August and Coho Salmon from June through October, making the point a consistent summer troll for spoons, hootchies, and anchovy, with mooching cut-plug herring another effective approach for Chinook. The rock structure also supports strong groundfish action, with Lingcod peaking February through April and Black Rockfish running February through October, both best worked with metal jigs and leadhead jigs dropped along the drop-off. Canary Rockfish and Pacific Cod round out the bottom fishery over the same rocky terrain. Anglers can jig the steep contours for lingcod and rockfish while trolling the edge for salmon as the tide moves bait against the structure.
