Dodd Narrows is a tidal corridor south of Nanaimo, British Columbia, where current funnels over a rock bottom that drops from roughly 20 to 120 feet. Lingcod hold along this structure with peak fishing from March into August, while Chinook and Coho salmon move through from June to September and rockfish stay catchable year-round. Anglers work the rock and depth changes for lingcod by jigging metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, or drop whole herring and squid on bait. Salmon fishing centers on trolling anchovy, herring, and flashers with hoochies through the corridor, with mooching cut-plug herring as a secondary approach. The strong tidal flow shapes the fishing here, concentrating fish where current meets structure.
