Gabriola Bluffs is a rock drop-off off Nanaimo, British Columbia, where the bottom falls through a 40 to 180 foot range along a mid-exposure shoreline. The structure holds Chinook Salmon and Coho Salmon, both peaking from June through September. Trolling is the dominant approach here, working anchovy, herring, flashers with hoochies, and trolling spoons along the contours of the drop-off. Anglers targeting Chinook also mooch cut-plug or whole herring, while Coho respond to bucktailing over the same water. Metal jigs work the deeper edges of the structure for both species when fish hold tight to the rock.
