Hump 0.6 km NE of Hunt Rock is a rocky pinnacle rising off Port Hardy in outer, exposed waters, with depths running from 75 to 855 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from May through August, alongside Pacific Halibut that fish best from March through August and a rockfish community that includes Rougheye and Darkblotched, plus Sablefish in the deeper water. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and Coho from June to September, giving the spot a mix of bottom and pelagic targets across the season. Lingcod respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs with soft plastics over the rock, while Halibut are worked by drift fishing with whole herring, salmon bellies, octopus, or squid across the flanks of the pinnacle. Chinook and Coho are taken by trolling spoons, herring, and hootchies through the upper column above the structure.
