Hump 3.6 km SW of Magdalena Point is a rocky pinnacle rising from the outer, exposed waters off Port Renfrew, British Columbia, holding fish across a 70 to 75 foot depth band. The structure concentrates Pacific Halibut, which peak from March through August, alongside Lingcod that fish best from May through August and Chinook Salmon running strong from May through September. Anglers work the halibut with drift jigging over the rock, using heavy leadhead jigs, salmon bellies, herring, or octopus, and back that up with bottom bait fishing on whole herring or salmon heads. Lingcod respond to metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs bounced along the pinnacle, while Chinook come to trolled anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons over and around the high ground. The rise also supports Canary Rockfish, Pacific Cod, Rougheye Rockfish, and Widow Rockfish drawn to the same rocky relief.
