Woods Nose is an outer-exposed rock drop-off off Port Renfrew, British Columbia, where the bottom falls through 260 to 660 feet of water. The structure holds Chinook Salmon at their peak from May through September and Coho Salmon from June through September, with both species most effectively worked by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies along the ledge. Lingcod stack on the rock from May through August and respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs. Pacific Halibut move through from March into August, taken by drift jigging heavy leadhead jigs, herring, or octopus across the deeper contours. Pacific Cod and rockfish including Canary and Copper round out the mixed bottom fishery over the same broken terrain.
