STRUCTURE
Bay
Inner Protected

Pedder Bay is an inner, protected bay near Sooke, British Columbia, within DFO subarea 20-5, with a mixed bottom and depths running from 25 to 115 feet. Chinook Salmon hold here from June through August and Coho Salmon peak from June into October, both taken by trolling anchovies, herring, spoons, or hootchies through the water column, with mooching cut-plug or whole herring as a supporting approach. Lingcod stack up over the mixed bottom and rocky structure from September through May, worked with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs along the deeper edges of the bay's depth range. Dungeness Crab move through the protected shallows in two windows, March to June and September to November, and respond to traps baited with fish carcasses, herring, chicken, or turkey. The bay's sheltered exposure keeps conditions workable across a range of tides, making it a consistent option for both salmon and bottom fishing.
