Rankin Rocks is an outer-exposed rock pinnacle off Tofino, British Columbia, rising through depths of 20 to 120 feet where current sweeps across broken structure. The pinnacle draws Chinook Salmon and Lingcod through the summer, both peaking May to August, while Coho Salmon build from June into October and Pacific Halibut hold earlier in the year from March to June. Anglers work the salmon with trolled anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons across the upper water, dropping to mooched cut-plug herring when fish hold deeper. Over the rock itself, metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits take Lingcod and Black Rockfish, the latter active May through September along the pinnacle's edges. For Halibut, drift jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics or metal jigs covers the deeper bottom as tide moves across the structure.
