Lyche Island sits in the outer-exposed waters off Ucluelet, British Columbia, where a mixed-bottom drop-off falls through depths of 0 to 60 feet. The structure holds lingcod, which peak from March through May and respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs along the ledges. Pacific halibut move through from April to August and are worked with drift jigging using leadhead jigs and soft plastics, metal jigs, or salmon belly across the deeper mixed ground. Quillback, copper, and black rockfish hold on the drop-off year-round, with black rockfish peaking May through September and taking metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits. Chinook salmon run from May through August and coho from May through September, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and trolling spoons over the exposed outer edge.
