STRUCTURE
Pinnacle
Outer Exposed

Hump 2.5 km NW of Point Joe is an outer, exposed rock pinnacle off Monterey, rising through water that runs 80 to 180 feet deep. The structure holds lingcod, which peak from November through January, again in March through May, and once more in September and October, alongside widow, canary, copper, and cowcod rockfish, plus Chinook salmon that move through March through July. Lingcod respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs worked close to the rock, with live sanddabs or live mackerel as a supporting approach over the deeper edges. Copper rockfish, which peak from July through September, take bait fishing with squid, shrimp flies, anchovies, and sardines held near the pinnacle's broken bottom. Chinook are best worked with trolling anchovies, spoons, hoochies, and flashers across the exposed water above the hump.
