Pecho Rock is a rocky drop-off off Morro Bay, California, where the bottom falls through 55 to 65 feet along mid-exposure structure. Chinook Salmon run strongest from March through July, worked with trolling using anchovies, herring, trolling spoons, or flashers with hoochies, and supported by mooching whole anchovies or cut herring above the drop. The rock holds a deep rockfish population through the warmer months, with Blue Rockfish peaking March through August on shrimp fly rigs and squid strips, Black Rockfish from May through September on metal jigs and swimbaits, and Copper Rockfish from June through September on bottom-fished squid and swimbaits. Lingcod move onto the same structure from September through March, taken on metal jigs and swimbaits or live sanddabs and mackerel fished tight to the rock. Coho Salmon, Pacific Halibut, and Blue Shark round out the catch across the season.
