About North Point
North Point is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off off San Francisco, where the bottom falls away through depths of 260 to 660 feet. Chinook Salmon run here from April through September, with Blue Rockfish and California Halibut peaking across the same spring-to-late-summer stretch, while Lingcod hold through the cooler months of February, March, and December alongside a strong fall showing from August into October. The steep rock structure suits jigging with metal jigs and swimbaits for Lingcod and Black Rockfish, the latter most active May through August. Anglers work the deeper water with trolling spreads of whole anchovy and flashers for Chinook, and drift live anchovies or shiner perch over the slope for halibut through spring and summer. Blue Rockfish take shrimp fly rigs and squid strips along the same broken rock edges.
