Eagle Rock is an outer, exposed pinnacle off Santa Monica, California, rising from rocky bottom in 60 to 120 feet of water. The structure holds Yellowtail at their peak from May through October and White Seabass from March through July, with California Sheephead, Calico Bass, and California Barracuda all active across the warmer months and Lingcod moving in from September into February. Yellowtail respond to live bait such as sardines, mackerel, and anchovies over the high spots, while yo-yo jigging with heavy iron reaches fish holding deeper against the rock. White Seabass take live squid and sardines along the pinnacle edges, and the rock bottom supports bottom fishing with live shrimp, squid, and cut mackerel for Sheephead. Vertical jigging with metal jigs and leadhead swimbaits works the deeper rock for Lingcod and Nearshore Rockfish through the fall and winter.
