About Centennial Park

Centennial Park is a breakwater fishing spot on Sarasota Bay in Sarasota, Florida, where rock structure meets the inshore waters of the Gulf coast. Sheepshead hold tight to the breakwater from December through March, and bottom fishing with live shrimp, fiddler crabs, sand fleas, or oysters puts baits directly against the rocks where they feed. Common Snook peak from May through July, followed by Gray Snapper from June through August, and both respond to live shrimp or live pilchards worked along the structure. Spanish Mackerel run through the area from March to May and again from September to November, when casting small spoons, jigs, and plugs covers water quickly as schools pass. Red Drum peak in September and October, and Spotted Seatrout show in March, April, and October, with live shrimp under a popping cork drawing strikes from trout near the breakwater.
