About South Lido Park
South Lido Park is a public beach at the southern tip of Lido Key in Sarasota, where the Gulf shoreline wraps toward Big Sarasota Pass. Sheepshead run here from December through March, Common Snook peak from May through July, Red Drum arrive in September and October, and Spotted Seatrout fish best in March, April, and October. Snook anglers along the beach rely on live bait fishing with live pilchards and live shrimp, and they cast paddletail swimbaits and soft plastic jerkbaits to cover more water. Red Drum respond to sight casting with gold spoons or live pilchards, and bottom fishing with cut mullet or blue crabs reaches fish holding along the sand. Through the cooler months, Sheepshead anglers bottom fish with fiddler crabs, sand fleas, and live shrimp.
