Governors Point sits on an outer, exposed rock flat off Bellingham in DFO subarea 7, where fishable water runs from the surface down to about 50 feet over hard bottom. Chinook Salmon peak from June through September and Coho Salmon from June through October, both worked most effectively with downrigger trolling and trolling using flashers, hoochies, trolling spoons, and herring across the shallow rock structure. Pacific Halibut hold from April through August, taken by drifting herring, squid, or octopus over the bottom. Lingcod come on through two windows, November to February and March to June, and respond to jigging with metal jigs and leadhead jigs with swimbaits along the rock. The exposed flat also holds Canary and Copper Rockfish and Pacific Cod within the same 0 to 50 foot band.
