Rolfe Cape Hump is a rocky pinnacle in DFO subarea 7 off Bellingham, Washington, rising from mid-exposure water with depths running 150 to 440 feet. The structure holds Pacific Halibut, which peak from April through August, alongside Lingcod that show two windows from November through February and again March through June, plus a deepwater rockfish mix of rougheye, shortraker, and darkblotched, as well as sablefish and Chinook Salmon peaking June through September. Halibut come to drifting bait along the base of the pinnacle, with herring, squid, salmon bellies, or octopus worked near bottom, while jigging with leadhead swimbaits or metal jigs covers both halibut and the resident lingcod. Lingcod hold tight to the rock, where metal and bucktail jigs work the structure or live greenling and herring can be drifted through it. Chinook are targeted higher in the column with downrigger trolling using whole herring, spoons, hoochies, and flashers, supported by mooching cut-plug herring over the same ground.
