Point Doughty sits on the exposed outer edge of Orcas Island near Friday Harbor, Washington, where a rocky corridor funnels current across depths of 20 to 120 feet. The structure holds lingcod, which peak from December through February and again from May through August, alongside aggregate rockfish that fish best from March through September. Jigging dominates here for both species, with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and swimbaits worked along the rock bottom and through the deeper stretches of the corridor. Anglers targeting lingcod also drift live greenling, herring, or sanddabs and mooch whole or cut plug herring, while rockfish respond to bait fishing with herring, squid, or shrimp. The outer-exposed setting keeps water moving over the rock, concentrating fish along the corridor's edges.
