Point Dalco sits off Tacoma, Washington, where a mixed-bottom drop-off falls through inner protected water spanning depths of 30 to 120 feet. The structure holds three salmon runs on distinct schedules: Chinook Salmon peak from June through September, Coho Salmon from July through October, and Chum Salmon from September through December. Trolling dominates across all three species, with cut-plug herring, flashers, trolling spoons, and hoochies worked along the sloping edge. Mooching whole or cut-plug herring covers the deeper water on the drop-off, while jigging with metal or leadhead jigs targets fish stacked over the mixed bottom. Anglers fishing the transition zone between shallow structure and the deeper channel find the most consistent action through the fall.
