Alexander Island sits off La Push, Washington, marking a sand-bottomed drop-off with mid-range exposure where the water falls from 20 to 60 feet. The structure holds Chinook Salmon peaking April through August and Coho Salmon from May through September, both taken by trolling flashers, hoochies, and trolling spoons across the edge or by mooching cut-plug and whole herring along the slope. Lingcod stack up on the drop-off from February through April, responding to metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs worked close to the bottom. Black Rockfish crowd the same structure from June through September and take metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and swimbaits, while Pacific Halibut move through from April through August and hold to drifted whole herring, salmon bellies, octopus, and squid over the sand. Blue Rockfish, Yellowtail Rockfish, Pacific Cod, and Kelp Greenling round out the mix across the depth range.
