Cake Rock is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off off La Push, Washington, where the bottom falls from 5 down to 90 feet along broken structure. The spot holds Chinook Salmon and Pacific Halibut through their April–August peaks, with Coho Salmon building from May into September and Black Rockfish concentrating June through September. Lingcod fishing peaks earlier, from February to April, over the same rocky ledges. Anglers troll whole herring, flashers, and trolling spoons for Chinook and work metal jigs and swimbaits down the drop-off for Lingcod and Black Rockfish, while halibut come to drift-fished whole herring, salmon bellies, and squid across the deeper edges. The rock structure and steep depth change make jigging effective for rockfish and lingcod holding tight to the bottom.
