Cape Johnson is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off off La Push, Washington, where the bottom falls through 40 to 180 feet of water. Chinook Salmon run from April through August and Coho Salmon from May through September, both taken by trolling flashers, hoochies, trolling spoons, and herring along the edge, with mooching and metal jigs as alternates. Pacific Halibut hold near the base of the structure from April through August, worked with drift fishing over the deeper end using whole herring, salmon bellies, octopus, or squid. Lingcod peak from February through April on the rock, where jigging metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs draws fish tight to structure, and live greenling or herring serves as backup bait. Rockfish, Pacific Cod, and Pacific Mackerel also share the same rocky ground across the depth range.
