About Hand Rock

Hand Rock is an exposed offshore pinnacle off La Push, Washington, rising from rocky bottom that drops through depths of 60 to 180 feet. The structure holds lingcod, which peak from February through April and respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, along with live greenling or herring worked close to the rock. Black rockfish stack over the pinnacle from June through September and take metal jigs and swimbaits, while a mix of blue, china, copper, quillback, canary rockfish, and cabezon share the same rocky terrain. Pacific halibut move through from April through August and come to whole herring, salmon bellies, octopus, or squid drifted along the bottom. Chinook salmon run the same spring-to-summer window and are targeted by trolling whole herring, flashers, spoons, and hoochies over the exposed outer structure.
