About Hand Rock Hump
Hand Rock Hump is an outer-exposed rock pinnacle off La Push, Washington, rising through water that runs 60 to 180 feet deep. The structure holds lingcod, which peak from February through April, alongside a mixed rockfish population that includes copper, canary, and quillback. Pacific halibut and Chinook salmon both peak from April through August, while coho salmon move through from May into September. Anglers work the pinnacle for lingcod with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, and drift whole herring, octopus, or squid across the rock for halibut. Chinook and coho respond to trolling with flashers, spoons, and hoochies over the same exposed structure.
