Perkins Reef is an outer-exposed sand flat off La Push, Washington, running from about 20 to 60 feet of depth. The open, unstructured bottom holds Chinook Salmon from April through August and Coho Salmon from May through September, both taken by trolling flashers, hoochies, and trolling spoons across the shallows. Pacific Halibut work the same ground on their April-to-August peak, where drift fishing whole herring, salmon bellies, or squid along the sand covers the most water. Lingcod turn on earlier, from February through April, and respond to jigging metal jigs and swimbaits, while Black Rockfish hold strong from June through September on leadhead jigs and swimbaits. The exposed sand flat rewards drifting with the tide, letting bait and jigs track naturally across the depth range.
