Outer Exposed

Father and Son is an exposed sand flat off Neah Bay, Washington, running 30 to 60 feet deep along the outer coast. The spot holds Chinook Salmon from April through August and Coho Salmon from May through September, with Pacific Halibut peaking April through July and Lingcod strongest March through May. Anglers troll whole herring, flashers, and hoochies through the water column for salmon, while mooching cut-plug herring works the same shallow flat. Over the sand bottom, drift jigging with leadhead jigs and swimbaits targets halibut, and metal jigs or swimbaits bring up lingcod holding near the edges. Pacific Cod fills the winter window from January through March, taking metal jigs and shrimp flies worked close to the bottom.
