Umatilla Reef is an outer-exposed sand flat off Neah Bay, Washington, running 20 to 60 feet deep along the open coast. Chinook Salmon peak from April through August and Coho Salmon from May through September, with anglers trolling whole herring, spoons, flashers, and hoochies across the flat. Lingcod hold over the bottom structure and peak March through May, taking metal jigs, swimbaits, and lead-head jigs tipped with plastic. Pacific Halibut move through from April to July and respond to drift jigging with leadhead jigs and swimbaits, while Pacific Cod concentrate January through March on metal jigs and shrimp flies. Rockfish and Spiny Dogfish round out the catch across the reef's shallow, exposed sand.
