Coyote Bank is an outer-exposed drop-off off Port Angeles, Washington, where a mixed bottom falls away through depths of 80 to 250 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from January through April, alongside Pacific Halibut from March through August and Chinook Salmon from June through August. Lingcod hold tight to the mixed bottom and respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs, with bait fishing using live greenling, herring, or squid as a supporting approach. Halibut are worked along the deeper reaches of the drop-off by drift fishing herring, salmon bellies, octopus, or squid. Chinook are targeted higher in the column by trolling whole herring, spoons, flashers, or hootchies, with mooching cut-plug herring an effective alternative as the salmon move through in summer.
